Together: Our 2021 Review
Together: Our 2021 Review

St Helens Borough Labour are delighted to publish our 2021 review, looking back at the achievements of our Labour council and partners in the past 12 months and also our progress on delivering the promises we made at the election last May.

The report features numerous highlights including our ongoing response to the pandemic and support for public health, residents, schools and businesses; publication of our transformational masterplans for both St Helens and Earlestown town centres; beginning repair work on the Gamble and Earlestown town hall; investing in new CCTV equipment to tackle flytipping; significant investment in new cycling and walking routes; climate change action; new school buildings, and much more.

Alongside this, we have included a reminder of every promise we made in May and a report on our progress.

Council Leader David Baines says: “It’s fair and right that residents hold politicians to account when they make promises, and that’s why we’re publishing this report which spells out the progress we’re delivering on every pledge made in the last election. I’m grateful to my Cabinet and Labour Group for their hard work and determination, and of course to every single council keyworker for delivering essential services and making such progress through a pandemic.

Labour are looking forward to the all out elections this coming May, where we are confident we’ll be the only Party with a deliverable, ambitious plan for St Helens borough. As our report shows, there’s a lot done, and more to do.”
