St Helens Labour has confirmed its candidates for Windle Ward ahead of May’s all-out local elections, with Cllr Lynn Clarke seeking re-election alongside new candidates Robbie Young and George McCulley.
The announcement comes as the party steps up its campaign across the borough following a major launch event attended by members, councillors, MPs and regional leaders, marking the start of Labour’s efforts to contest every seat on the council.
Cllr Clarke is re-standing after serving residents for 10 years, bringing experience and a strong track record of community representation. She is joined by Robbie Young and George McCulley, two new candidates committed to working closely with residents and supporting the local area.
Council Leader Anthony Burns welcomed the Windle team, highlighting both experience and fresh energy.
Anthony Burns said:
“Lynn has been a dedicated councillor for Windle, working hard to support residents and deliver real improvements in the area. I’m delighted that Robbie and George are joining her — they are both passionate about working hard in Windle and ready to step up and make a difference.
“Together, they offer a strong combination of experience and new ideas, and I know they will work tirelessly for the people of Windle.”
The Windle announcement is part of Labour’s wider campaign to put forward candidates in every ward across St Helens, with all council seats up for election this May.
The campaign launch event was attended by senior Labour figures including Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and St Helens MPs David Baines and Marie Rimmer, underlining the importance of the upcoming elections for the borough.
Cllr Lynn Clarke said:
“It’s an honour to represent Windle and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved for residents. I’m looking forward to continuing that work and building on the progress we’ve made.”
Robbie Young said:
“I’m proud to be standing in Windle. It’s a great community and I’m looking forward to speaking with residents and working hard to represent their views.”
George McCulley said:
“I care deeply about the local area and want to help make a positive difference. I’m excited to be part of a strong team focused on delivering for Windle.”
