Ant Burns, Leader of St Helens Council
Last year our borough welcomed a much better settlement than we’ve had in years, and we’ve made it clear that another strong settlement this year is vital for the council to deliver the services people rely on" - Ant Burns, Leader of St Helens Council

St Helens Council Leader Anthony Burns joined local Labour MPs David Baines and Marie Rimmer at 10 Downing Street today to make the case for a Fair Funding Settlement for St Helens.

The meeting with officials from the Prime Minister’s office focused on the urgent need for a funding package that reflects the real challenges faced by communities across the borough. Discussions highlighted how years of underfunding have placed significant pressure on essential services and stressed that fair investment is critical to protect residents and drive local growth.

Leader of St Helens Council, Anthony Burns said:
“Today we met with Government officials with a clear message – St Helens deserves its fair share. After years of local government underfunding, our residents cannot be left behind. Last year our borough welcomed a much better settlement than we’ve had in years, and we’ve made it clear that another strong settlement this year is vital for the council to deliver the services people rely on and create opportunities for the future”

The Local Government Funding Settlement will be announced tomorrow (Wednesday 17th December)
