The Safer St Helens Community Safety Partnership (CSP) has allocated £29,000 to fund vital knife crime education initiatives in St Helens Borough schools.

Early Education, Safer Communities

This crucial investment, championed by Councillor Trisha Long (Labour), Chair of the CSP and Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, empowers schools and colleges to design their own impactful campaigns. The goal is to educate young people about the dangers and devastating consequences of carrying a knife from victim, perpetrator, and community perspectives.

Councillor Long stated: “Knife crime devastates lives and communities. By educating our young people early, we are not only equipping them with the knowledge to make safer choices but also empowering them to be part of the solution. This funding represents a collaborative, proactive approach to prevention.

The initiative demonstrates the Labour Council’s commitment to long-term crime reduction strategies, working closely with Merseyside Police and other partners to ensure safer neighbourhoods and to support communities healing from previous incidents, such as the one in Parr last year.
