St Helens Borough Labour is delighted to announce Sally Yeoman MBE as our candidate for the Blackbrook By-Election on Thursday 12th December which has been called following the sad death of Cllr Linda Maloney MBE.
Sally is well known locally among community and faith groups with a real track record of serving residents through her extensive work as a leader of the voluntary service in St Helens. She was recently awarded an MBE for her services to the community for the work she has done in the community.
St Helens Borough Labour Leader Anthony Burns said: “Cllr Linda Maloney MBE was such an important part of our team and a fantastic hard-working councillor for the residents of Blackbrook and Haydock and her death has shocked us all. In selecting a candidate to succeed Linda it was important that we selected a strong candidate with a proven track record and links to the ward, so we are delighted to have Sally on board.
Sally has been a big part of delivering for St Helens residents over the last 18 years. She was a key figure in the response to the COVID pandemic helping to create the St Helens Together movement which helped residents and saved lives. Such was the effect of her work she was recognised at the highest level with the award of an MBE. She is perfect for the ward of Blackbrook too, with her family members actively involved in the running of Blackbrook ARLFC. She will be a fantastic ward councillor and will continue in Linda’s footsteps on the side of residents and being a strong voice for all of Blackbrook.”
David Baines MP for St Helens North said: “I am delighted that Sally Yeoman has been selected to fight this by-election for Labour. I have worked with her closely for many years and I have seen for myself the work she has done day in, day out to support residents, community groups and the faith sector in our borough.
Sally cares passionately about people and works tirelessly to make a difference. I have no doubt she will be an outstanding champion for Blackbrook and a strong voice for everyone in our community.”
It was really sad to lose Linda, who I worked with for many years. She left a huge legacy and I will do my best to make sure the work she started, fighting for Blackbrook residents and being a strong voice in the Town Hall continues. Sally Yeoman MBE, Labour Candidate for Blackbrook
