Once in a lifetime plans for St Helens have been published

St Helens town centre Labour councillors Carole Ann Gill, Anne McCormack and Michelle Sweeney have reacted to the transformational masterplans for St Helens town centre published yesterday.

They say: “As lifelong residents and Labour Councillors for our Town Centre we are delighted to be involved with this ambitious and impressive plan for St Helens. Our residents have told us time and again how they want to see our town transformed into a thriving centre and this is the transformation our town needs to deliver for them.

These plans are exciting and imaginative and the Team driving them forward is confident of their ability to deliver just what we need.

We must remember that this huge regeneration is just a part of what Labour is doing to support and transform our town centre and borough.

Alongside our successful bid of £25m Town Deal funding and the news that we are seeking a Box Park operator for the Chalon Way site, this is a hugely exciting time for the town!

If you haven’t visited for a while, now is the time to come and support the many companies who have chosen our town to start their businesses.

Let’s work together now to make our town centre the success we all want.”

The plans can be viewed at www.sthelenstowncentre.co.uk. If approved by Cabinet next Wednesday, they will go out to public consultation from 1st November.
