Residents surrounding Ashurst Park in Blackbrook are being asked for their views on improving the area after concerns were raised by local residents with your Labour Councillors regarding the state of the playing area equipment.

Local resident Zoe Sankey has raised the issue with Cllr Anthony Burns. She said: “This is a fantastic location for local children having 2 large housing estates nearby, and also 2 schools and the pre school on chain lane. The provision for toddlers on the estate is poor – I note that chain lane community have a play area but this consists of toddler swings and a round about only which a toddler can safely use. The other play equipment is for older children”

Anthony Burns added: “It was great to meet with Zoe and talk about the local area this week who like others on the estate would like to see the play equipment fixed on Ashurst park. I’ve contacted council officers to ask them to look at it and will get the play area tided up ASAP. With the rebuilding of Ashurst School now confirmed by the Labour council, it would be great to improve the rest of the area too.

If you’d like to have your say on the play area and what you’d like to see, please have your say and get in touch with me at cllraburns@sthelens.gov.uk ”
