Council Leader David Baines announced the support today

Council Leader David Baines says: “I’m delighted to announce that St Helens Borough Council are now able to provide much-needed financial support for local independent businesses in the borough, and for small charities too.

For businesses like those quoted in the article – The Kirkfield in Newton-le-Willows and Ruskin St.Helens in Windle – this financial support is important.

Labour have pushed for this, and I thank colleagues including Conor McGinn MP, Cllr Sev Gomez-Aspron, Cllr Martin Bond, Cllr Richard McCauley and others for helping to make it happen.

I’m also very happy we’re able to offer financial support to local charities who so far have missed out. Our whole community has come together to get through Covid and St Helens Borough Council are determined to do all we can to help.”
