St Helens’ Steve Prescott Bridge will join other landmarks and buildings across the UK in lighting up royal blue at 8:00pm this evening (Thursday 26 March) as a sign of appreciation for the NHS, amid the coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement, St Helens Council Leader David Baines said: “Our country is facing a huge challenge.
On the front lines of this battle are our heroic NHS staff, providing outstanding round the clock care as always.
St Helens is proud to join other places across the nation in paying tribute to NHS workers, and we will be lighting the Steve Prescott Bridge in royal blue as a mark of respect and also as a symbol of hope and solidarity in troubled times.”
“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind residents that the best way you can protect our precious NHS is to stay at home unless you are an identified key worker or you need to collect essential supplies such as food and medicine.
“Please stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.”
