Council Leader David Baines today visited his old college here in St Helens to discuss the challenges facing further education, and to join the call for fair funding.
David was shown around Carmel College by Principal Mike Hill, and heard about the great work done by staff and students, and the impact of financial uncertainty on their ability to plan for the future.
Council Leader David Baines says: “It was great to visit Carmel College today, for the first time since I finished my A Levels there in 1997! Thank you to Principal Mike Hill for taking the time to show me around and to discuss the challenges facing further education.
Carmel is an outstanding college and – like all further education facilities – could do so much more with financial security.”
