St Helens Labour has announced its candidates for Moss Bank Ward in May’s all-out local elections, with Cllr Tracy Dickinson and Cllr Jeanette Banks seeking re-election alongside new candidate Shana Begum.
The announcement comes as Labour continues its borough-wide campaign to stand candidates in every ward, following a major launch event attended by members, councillors and senior party figures.
Tracy Dickinson and Jeanette Banks will stand again after representing Moss Bank residents, bringing experience and a strong record of service. They are joined by Shana Begum, a local Labour supporter who has previously been involved in campaigning in the ward, and is now stepping forward as a candidate.
Council Leader Anthony Burns welcomed the Moss Bank team and paid tribute to a long-serving councillor who is standing down.
Anthony Burns said:
“Tracy and Jeanette have both worked hard for the people of Moss Bank and have a strong understanding of the issues that matter to residents. I’m delighted to welcome Shana as a new candidate who brings a wealth of experience and a clear commitment to the community. I also want to thank Councillor Trisha Long for her dedicated service. She has been a committed representative for Moss Bank and has made a real difference to the area over many years.”
The candidates were confirmed as Labour continues its campaign ahead of elections where every council seat will be contested.
Cllr Trisha Long said:
“It has been a privilege to serve the people of Moss Bank. I’m proud of the work we’ve done together as a community and I’d like to thank residents for their support over the years. I know Tracy, Jeanette and Shana will continue to work hard on behalf of local people.”
Tracy Dickinson said:
“It’s an honour to represent Moss Bank and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved for residents. I’m looking forward to continuing that work and building on our progress. I worked in local government as an environmental health professional all of my life prior to standing for election and so I understand how Councils’ work, and most importantly how to get things done. I’m standing to represent the communities of Moss Bank because I believe that local politics should be about action, not empty promises. I’ll continue to be active, visible, and approachable—someone you see in the community, listening and quietly getting on with the job. I’m proud of what we have delivered so far, and want to continue to drive through projects we have started, including a new railway station at Carr Mill”
Jeanette Banks said:
“I care deeply about our community and it’s a privilege to serve local people. I’m committed to continuing to work hard and deliver for Moss Bank. I bring years of experience of working both in local government and as a local Councillor and understand how to get things done.”
Shana Begum said:
“I’m proud to be standing in the ward where I live. I’ve been involved in supporting local campaigns in the area for years and care deeply about my community – they have helped me become the woman I am today and I want to give back and continue to make a positive difference. I’m looking forward to continuing my work with residents, listening to their voice and transforming lives. I’m already embedded in the community as I live here, and have a proven track record of delivering for years. My background in Community safety and local government means that I can provide the best support for residents in my area. Your challenges are my challenges and I’m looking forward to continuing to serve you”
