Councillor Anthony Burns, Labour Leader of St Helens Borough Council, today hailed a year of monumental progress, using the Borough Strategy Annual Report to affirm that the Labour administration is successfully delivering a brighter future for St Helens—and he included a special thanks to the Council’s dedicated workforce.
Delivering for Residents
The Labour Cabinet reviewed the extensive report, which details significant achievements across all strategic areas, including:
- Service Excellence: Receiving a “Good” rating for Adult Social Care and validation from the Local Government Association that the Council has been “transformed for the better.”
- Regeneration: Driving forward crucial town centre renewal in St Helens and Earlestown.
- Community Investment: Successfully delivering new homes, Family Hubs, and improved sports facilities.
"this report is just a snapshot of the wonderful things that have happened over the last year" - Councillor Anthony Burns, Labour Leader of St Helens Borough Council
Thanks to Our Workers
Councillor Burns was keen to credit the staff who make Labour’s vision a reality: “There is a clear message from this report… that the council is an effectively managed organisation… As a Council Leader, I also want to put on record Cabinet’s thanks to the council officers who are delivering services we know our residents really rely on.”
This success underscores the Labour commitment to strong leadership, effective management, and investment in services that put residents first. The future of St Helens is being built on these strong Labour foundations.
