Dennis McDonnell at the much-loved Stork Inn
Billinge Labour Councillors Dennis McDonnell, Sue Murphy and Joe Pearson are fighting to save the historic Stork Inn in Billinge after plans were unveiled by developers to demolish the building. The plans have been met with anger by the local community.
Billinge Labour Councillor Dennis McDonnell says: “I have been inundated from residents as have my colleagues asking us to support people in trying to save the Stork Public House from demolition. Your Labour councillors have listened to you and are starting a campaign to do our best to try and stop demolition of this most historic building.
We ask you to support our campaign by putting red ribbons outside your houses showing the support for our campaign. The red colour is symbolic of the warning of the loss of heritage our village will lose if demolition takes place!
Your Labour Councillors have arranged to meet officers of the council and Cllr David Baines the Leader of the Council who has pledged his support for our campaign.
I will update you further in the week as to what else you can do to support this campaign.”
