Labour's Anthony Burns has confirmed the plans
We are delighted to announce that works have been approved to enhance the walkways through Sankey valley at Havannah Flash in Haydock.
Although recent work to improve the pathways have been welcomed by the local community, there is a distinct lack of seating areas and signage along this part of the route. Labour Councillor Anthony Burns has been working with the local community and council officers and the locations have now been approved and the benches are on order.

Anthony Burns says: “I’m delighted to confirm further improvements to this lovely part of Haydock. The route behind the Ship to Carr Mill Dam is fantastic and proves popular with walkers and cyclists, with plenty of opportunities for people to sit and enjoy the lovely scenery. This is what residents have asked for the Haydock area around Havannah Flash too.

I’m looking forward to the benches being installed and signs erected to improve the area for all residents to enjoy, and I know the wider community will join me in hoping they will be respected by all who visit the area as they will add great value to a beautiful walkway”.

The improvements are due to start imminently as soon as the ordered materials arrive.
