St Helens Council today hosted an event for former employees of Ena Shaw, which sadly announced its closure. Working with partners including St Helens Citizens Advice Bureau, the local DWP, and St Helens Chamber, the event offered advice and practical support.
Council Leader David Baines says: “When news broke about the closure of Ena Shaw, like most people my thoughts went to the 150+ staff being made redundant. That’s why we wanted to host this event and work with partners to provide whatever practical support we can for those out of work. I want to thank those providers who came to offer advice and support, and hope that all those who attended found it helpful.”
Councillor Richard McCauley, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Housing, says: “The loss of Ena Shaw is a blow for the borough but nobody will feel it as harshly as those who have lost their jobs, and we want to do what we can to support them. That’s why we put on this event and we’ll continue to do all we can.”
